Dercum’s Disease

AquaLink is a supportive daily product, not a medical treatment.

Does AquaLink treat Dercum’s disease?

No. AquaLink is not a treatment, cure, or therapy for Dercum’s disease (adiposis dolorosa) or any medical condition. It is a supportive daily beverage designed to promote hydration and balanced inflammatory signaling.

How might AquaLink support people living with Dercum’s?

Some individuals have reported improvements in daily comfort when using AquaLink consistently. The formula is designed to support cellular hydration, gut-related immune balance, and pathways involved in inflammatory signaling (including Galectin-3 activity). Results vary from person to person.

Can I use AquaLink alongside other approaches?

Many people choose to include AquaLink as part of a broader personal routine. It is not intended to replace medical care, prescribed treatments, or professional guidance.

What is the difference between alkaline water and ionized water?

Alkaline water is any water with a pH above 7. Ionized water is water that has been split by electrolysis. AquaLink uses the second kind.

Alkaline water

pH is only a number. You can raise it with mineral drops, baking soda, or alkaline salts. The water is still ordinary water with extra minerals or hydroxide added in. That is not electrolysis, and it is not the Hydro-Shell process.

Ionized water

An ionizer runs water across electrodes. One stream becomes alkaline (richer in OH⁻). The other becomes acidic. AquaLink uses the alkaline stream: electrolyzed alkaline ionized water, typically in a finished-drink pH range of about 8.0 to 9.5.

Why the difference matters for AquaLink

The hydration shell is built in that electrolyzed matrix. Polar groups on the plant fibers can associate with the ion–water network around OH⁻. Mineral drops in tap water can make a glass test alkaline on a pH strip. They do not create the same water, and they are not a substitute.

Short version

Alkaline describes pH. Ionized describes how the water was made. AquaLink needs ionized alkaline water, not tap water with drops.

How does the hydration shell work?

Aqua Link is mixed into electrolyzed alkaline ionized water, not tap or bottled water. That water is richer in hydroxide (OH⁻). Those ions sit in a loose water network.

Plant fibers in the powder — mainly arabinogalactan — have many OH groups on their surface. In that ionized water, H2O and OH⁻ form a reversible, non-covalent hydrogen-bond layer around those groups. That layer is the hydration shell.

What the shell does

  • Helps the powder wet and stay in one drinkable phase
  • Keeps viscosity low enough to sip
  • Is the mix spec for Aqua Link — the fibers plus that specific water

What the shell is not

  • Not a plastic coating
  • Not a permanent chemical bond
  • Not something you get by adding mineral drops or a hydrogen tablet to tap water

The large fibers stay gut-facing and interact with Galectin 3 on the cell surface. The shell is about how they sit in the glass and move through the gut as a well-dispersed drink, not about injecting them into cells.

Heat and freezing can loosen or break the network. If using AquaLink as as a frozen product first thaw, then stir vigorously until the drink looks even; the shell can form again in the same ionized water.

What are functional polysaccharides?

Polysaccharides are long chains of sugars. “Functional” means they are in the drink to do a job besides sweetness — they are fibers, not table sugar.

In Aqua Link those fibers are plant polysaccharides, mainly larch arabinogalactan, plus acacia gum in the full powder. They are large molecules. They do not digest like glucose. They stay in the gut, hold water, and can feed gut bacteria.

In this drink they are used to

  • Give the powder something for the hydration shell to form around in ionized alkaline water
  • Keep the sip light instead of syrupy
  • Support everyday gut-facing balance

They are not vitamins, not stimulants, and not a medicine. Most of the sugar-free sweetness comes from stevia, not from these fibers.

What is arabinogalactan?

Arabinogalactan is a plant fiber. Aqua Link uses larch arabinogalactan, taken from larch trees. It is a highly branched polysaccharide — a long chain of arabinose and galactose sugars.

It does not digest like table sugar. It stays in the gut, mixes with water, and can act as a prebiotic fiber. In the glass, its many surface OH groups are what the hydration shell forms around when you mix the powder into electrolyzed alkaline ionized water.

In Aqua Link

It is the main functional fiber. A typical serving is about 4–5 g in a glass or 500 mL bottle.

What it is not

Not a drug. Not a vitamin. Not a stimulant.

What is Galectin-3?

Galectin-3 is a protein your body already makes. It is a lectin — it binds certain sugar patterns, especially galactose-containing structures, through a carbohydrate-recognition domain.

When several Galectin-3 molecules link up, they can form a loose mesh on the outside of cells, often called a lattice. That mesh can organize how other receptors sit and how immune signals are paced. Research also studies Galectin-3 in tissue repair and fibrosis. That is biology, not a diagnosis on this page.

How this relates to Aqua Link

Arabinogalactan has galactose-rich branches. In the gut, those fibers can sit in the same general world of sugar–lectin contact. Aqua Link does not inject Galectin-3 blockers into your blood, and it is not a treatment for high Galectin-3.

The drink is ionized water plus gut-facing plant fibers. Galectin-3 is named here as context for why those fibers were chosen — not as a disease claim.

How does Galectin-3 lattice signaling work?

Galectin-3 forms dynamic lattices on the surface of cells that help control how certain receptors send signals. It binds to sugar structures on cell-surface proteins and links them together, creating a network that holds receptors in place, slows their removal, and organizes their activity. This can prolong signaling involved in inflammation and tissue remodeling.

What is the role of Galectin-3 in inflammation?

Galectin-3 helps recruit and activate immune cells, promotes key inflammatory pathways (including NLRP3 and TLR4), and stabilizes receptors so inflammatory signals last longer. In acute situations this can be helpful; when overactive it contributes to chronic low-grade inflammation.

What is the role of Galectin-3 in fibrosis?

Galectin-3 plays a key role in tissue scarring. It activates the cells that produce excess collagen, strengthens TGF-β signaling, and helps convert ongoing inflammation into long-term fibrosis.

How does this relate to AquaLink?

AquaLink’s functional polysaccharides (including arabinogalactan) can interact with Galectin-3 binding sites. The hydration shell technology is designed to protect these compounds during digestion and support their delivery, contributing to healthier cellular communication and a more balanced inflammatory response.

Daily Use

How AquaLink is meant to sit inside an everyday routine.

How much do I take?

Use one serving (5 g, about 1 tablespoon) mixed into a glass of electrolyzed alkaline ionized water once or twice a day.

How to mix it

Mix the ionized water and powder together and stir occasionally until fully dissolved. Do not mix it into tap or bottled water. Those waters are not the AquaLink process and will not form the hydration shell.

A typical glass

About 10 oz (300 mL) to 16 oz (500 mL) of ionized alkaline water plus one serving of powder. For a stronger drink, use a second serving in the same glass.

When

Morning and, if you take a second serving, before bed. Leave a gap around meals: about 30 minutes before eating, or about two hours after. Strongly alkaline water can blunt stomach acid if you drink it with food.

What this is not

This is not a medical dose for a condition. More powder does not turn it into a treatment. If you take prescription medicine, ask your clinician before you add a daily fiber drink.

Follow the serving size on your pouch or jar. AquaLink is a wellness drink, not a medicine.

Is AquaLink safe for daily use?

AquaLink is formulated as a daily functional beverage using food-grade ingredients. As with any new dietary addition, individuals with medical conditions or those taking medications should consult their healthcare provider before use.

How should AquaLink fit into a daily routine?

Treat it as a daily drink, not a pill you take with food.

Simple schedule

  • Morning: one or two servings in electrolyzed alkaline ionized water, first thing or well before breakfast.
  • Optional second serving: evening, not with dinner.

Around meals

Leave a gap: about 30 minutes before you eat, or about two hours after. Strongly alkaline water can blunt stomach acid if you drink it with a meal.

How to mix

Water first, then powder. Stir until even. Use ionized alkaline water only. Tap or bottled water will not form the hydration shell. Add ice and lemon for taste optionally.

What not to do

Do not chug it as a rescue for pain or a skipped meal. You can stack extra scoops in the same glass If you take prescription medicine, ask your clinician before you add a daily fiber drink.

Is AquaLink sugar-free?

Yes. There is no added sugar — no cane sugar, no syrup, no monk fruit.

Sweetness comes from a small amount of purified stevia. The plant fibers (arabinogalactan and, in the full powder, acacia) are slightly sweet carbohydrates, but they are fibers, not table sugar.

Check the Supplement Facts panel on your pouch or bottle for the official listing. If you track carbs for a medical diet, ask your clinician how to count a fiber drink.

Who should speak with a healthcare professional before using AquaLink?

Aqua Link is an adult fiber drink in ionized alkaline water.

Ask first if you

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are giving anything to an infant or young child — do not put Aqua Link in formula or a baby bottle
  • Take prescription medicine, especially drugs that must be timed away from fiber or from changes in stomach acid
  • Have a clinician-managed gut, kidney, or metabolic condition
  • Are on a strict medical diet (including how you count carbs or fiber)
  • Have had trouble with sugar alcohols, stevia, or high-fiber drinks before

If a doctor, pharmacist, or midwife already manages your care, show them the ingredient list on the pouch. Do not use Aqua Link as a treatment or as a replacement for prescribed care.

Aqua Link is a wellness drink. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.
